SUMMARY: Horse lovers are invited to vote online for their favorite painting in equine artist Karen Brenner’s new series, Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania.

Vote for your favorite painting in the new “Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania” series

(Wooster, Ohio — March 11, 2010) Voting for your favorite painting in equine artist Karen Brenner’s newest series, Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania, may be harder than it sounds. That’s because you’ll have over 50 paintings from which to choose! There are horses of all colors and dozens of breeds: Gypsy Vanners, Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Friesians, Paints, gaited horses, even a  mini donkey… the list goes on and on. The paintings depict horses in a wide variety of moods ranging from quiet portraits to full throttle charges. Karen’s paintings are realistic in nature, with brilliant colors created by multiple layers of translucent oil paint — and the paintings in this series all depict horses specially chosen from the state of Pennsylvania.

Voting is now underway, through April 30, 2010, on the artist’s website: www.karenbrenner.com. One vote per person online, but you may also vote at the Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania exhibit which will be held Saturday, April 10 at the Elite Equestrian’s Horse Expo at the fairgrounds in Allentown, PA. A drawing will be held in May, and one lucky voter will receive $25 worth of merchandise from the artist’s Café Press shops, which feature her artwork. The painting receiving the most votes will win a Café Press shop of its own.

The Beautiful Horses of Pennsylvania series began early in 2009 when Karen invited horse owners to nominate their horses for the project. Over 90 horses were entered. The artist chose 50 to be part of the series. During June 2009, she traveled throughout the state to photograph each of the 50 horses. Once back home in Ohio, she began the process of creating one painting of each of the featured horses. The last of the 50 paintings will be finished just in time for the April 10 exhibit.

In nominating their horse, owners shared special stories about their steeds. The stories will be available at the exhibit for those interested in reading about each of the horses. The paintings and stories are also available for viewing on the artist’s website: www.karenbrenner.com.

Pennsylvania is the fourth in Karen's "Beautiful Horses" series. Earlier series, featured horses from Texas, Ohio and Michigan. The artist hopes to travel to all 50 states and do a series for each. She is currently accepting nominations for the 2010 series, Beautiful Horses of Indiana.

Karen also does commissions. Horse owners may get more information about commissioning a painting on the artist’s website www.karenbrenner.com.
